My flair for the dramatic sends me off on these tangents at times where I wistfully wonder what it would be like to truly indulge some of the thoughts in my pretty little head. There’s something about the way in which the folks over at Neiman Marcus and Horchow both make a bed. As much as I hate to say it, they put Martha Stewart to shame.
Thankfully, we made a substantial investment in a really great bed. Now all I need to do is “decorate” it with new draping. The headboard is pretty much taken care of as far as shape. Fabric? not so much. Do you think velvet is too much? A big part of me does as well, but the little tenacious burst of fabulosity that is my alter ego is digging in and screaming “Dove Gray Velvet!!!”
Scale is something that I remain mindful of as well. The space will be a decent, though not cavernous, size. 20′ x 12′ and I only envision either a pair of side chairs OR a chaise lounge ( if anyone finds an image of something wide enough for two, that will be the deciding factor!! Yummy!). We’ll have two night stands and the bed. That’s it.
I figure if I get my way and use 63 thousand pillows, a comforter, a duvet, a light blanket, sheets and a dust ruffle with the errant throw… The room will still have a cozy feel and not appear sparse. Beds that look like these should make choosing drapery easy! Right?
