Tax Day – No Breaks Here!

In Materials, real estate on April 17, 2012 at 9:56 AM

Energy StarSo yes! It’s Tax Day and millions of Americans are scrambling to either collect receipts or figure out which extension they need to file.  There shall be many arguments between snippy last-minute filers and the ones who love them…

I was actually thinking to myself that this time next year, we would be the proud recipient of a few nifty energy tax credits due to our renovation project.  We are installing a new roof,  new windows, new doors, new appliances, new insulation and adding a  new central air system. What could be better?

Well, leave it to us, to become the poster children for energy efficiency RIGHT AFTER THE CREDITS EXPIRE!!!!

Yes, you heard it here. According to the Energy Star portal:

The tax credits for the following products have EXPIRED as of December 31, 2011:

  • Windows and Doors
  • Insulation
  • Roofs
  • HVAC: Central Air Conditioners, Air Source Heat Pumps, Furnaces and Boilers
  • Water Heaters: Gas, Oil, & Propane Water Heaters, Electric Heat Pump Water Heaters

And so begins yet another lament on the goo gobs of money that will be spent for our comfort and safety in the most precious worldly investment we own. Looking for a break here!!!!!
